Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist plays an essential role in executing professional HR functions, collaborating closely with the VP of HR, management, and employees. This position supports diverse HR duties with confidentiality and discretion and serves as a backup to the VP of HR.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the ADP timekeeping system and processing payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely updates in all HR platforms.
- Lead recruitment initiatives: screen and review candidates, coordinate interviews, select high-quality applicants, and support Affirmative Action Plan through strategic job postings.
- Provide exceptional employee and manager support for benefits, handling inquiries with a customer-centric approach.
- Manage various employee benefit and insurance programs, including communication, enrollment processing, broker coordination, invoice reconciliation, and compliance with the Affordable Care Act.
- Oversee Leave of Absence management, ensuring compliance with the Family Medical Leave Act and supporting employees throughout the process.
- Conduct new employee orientation and setup, perform exit interviews, analyze results, and recommend improvements.
- Address employee relations and performance challenges by providing solutions, conducting investigations, and revising job descriptions and performance plans as needed.
- Perform job analysis and evaluation for new and existing roles.
- Maintain and update Affirmative Action Plan records and reporting.
- Contribute actively to wellness and employee engagement committees.
- Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies while educating staff on HR practices and initiatives.
- Maintain personnel files and stay current with HR trends and credit union-related issues.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a similar field is preferred.
- A minimum of three years’ professional experience in Human Resources; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
- Professional certifications such as PHR or SHRM-CP are favored.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Well-versed in federal and state employment regulations including the Fair Labor Standards Act, ACA, Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA, and EEO.
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is advantageous.
- Exceptional ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate at all organizational levels.
- Competency in analyzing and interpreting HR data.
- Superior customer service and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Meticulous attention to detail coupled with critical thinking proficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, standard office technology, and general computer software.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
Physical Requirements
The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, handle materials, reach, communicate audibly, read and write text and spreadsheets, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds, with or without accommodations.
Work Environment
This position is based fully onsite at BMI FCU’s office in Dublin, Ohio, with some travel required to other branch locations. Remote work is not available.
