Role Overview
The Human Resources Coordinator plays a pivotal part in supporting the day-to-day functions of the HR department. This position aids in recruiting new talent, manages onboarding processes, maintains employee records, administers benefits and payroll support, ensures compliance, and fosters positive employee relations. Serving as a key contact for both employees and supervisors, the coordinator ensures that all HR operations are streamlined, compliant with internal policies and labor laws, and effectively support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage job postings through the HR information system and coordinate interview scheduling.
- Communicate consistently with candidates throughout the recruitment cycle, prepare hiring documents, and conduct orientation sessions to facilitate smooth employee onboarding.
- Perform employment verifications and handle background check coordination while supporting managers in staffing requirements.
- Actively participate in external recruitment activities such as job fairs and community events to enhance talent acquisition efforts.
- Maintain confidential and accurate personnel files and update HRIS records in partnership with the accounting department, managing job status changes including hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Generate necessary HR reports, update job descriptions, and assist with documentation and record maintenance.
- Support benefits administration including enrollments, changes, open enrollment, and serve as a point of contact between employees and benefits providers.
- Coordinate documentation related to COBRA, retirement plans, leaves, and assist with payroll data accuracy.
- Address employee questions concerning payroll deductions and benefits, and help administer wage and status changes.
- Respond to HR-related inquiries from employees and managers, support employee engagement and recognition programs, assist with performance tracking, and employee relations issues including investigations and corrective actions.
- Promote a constructive and inclusive workplace culture while aiding communication and change management efforts.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, assist in audits such as I-9 verification and personnel file reviews, maintain required postings, and support claims related to workers' compensation and unemployment.
- Coordinate maintenance of the employee handbook and related policy acknowledgments, and maintain documentation for compliance and HR reporting.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- At least two years of experience in human resources, administrative support, payroll, or office assistance.
- Working knowledge of HR principles, relevant employment laws, and HR best practices.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll software is preferred; familiarity with Paylocity is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational, time management, multitasking, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply sound judgment consistently.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience specifically with HRIS, payroll systems, and benefits management.
- Familiarity with onboarding procedures, workers' compensation, unemployment, and leave administration.
- Keen attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively with managers and employees.
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial work environments is a plus.
Physical and Work Environment
- Extended periods of sitting with frequent computer work.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Mobility to navigate throughout office and shop areas as required.
Schedule and Benefits
The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break.
