About the Role
Saab Aerospace Systems in West Lafayette, Indiana, is looking for a seasoned HR Generalist to join as a Human Resources Business Partner. This on-site position is part of the local HR team, reporting to the corporate HR group, and supports the manufacture of the T-7 Redhawk military trainer aircraft's rear aft section.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR resource at the West Lafayette site, delivering HR support and guidance to employees, supervisors, and leadership across multiple shifts.
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and local management to implement enterprise HR initiatives such as performance management, talent development, total rewards, talent acquisition, retention, leave administration, workforce planning, and ensuring policy compliance.
- Lead employee relations strategies by coaching supervisors on best practices and assisting or managing workplace investigations alongside Labor Relations as required.
- Educate new leaders on Saab’s HR systems, policies, and processes to smoothly integrate them into their roles.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and reporting obligations.
- Represent Saab’s HR presence at industry events and professional development forums.
- Manage the employee lifecycle, including professional development initiatives, and provide backup support to the local Recruiter for high-volume hiring and onboarding.
- Work with HR to strategize and develop local workforce pipelines.
- Participate in interview panels when needed.
- Promote a people-centered culture aligned with Saab’s core values of Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.
- Provide backup support for the site HR Leader as necessary.
- Be prepared for travel commitments up to 15% of the time.
- Undertake additional HR and manufacturing operations projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline with over 7 years of advancing experience in HR within manufacturing settings, preferably in a generalist or business partner function.
- Prior defense industry experience is advantageous.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR functions including talent acquisition, employee lifecycle management, employee relations, engagement, workforce planning, performance management, and HR program execution.
- Strong grasp of labor regulations and HR industry best practices.
- Familiarity with HRIS and applicant tracking systems; experience with Workday is beneficial.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving aptitude, sound judgment, and fairness in decision-making.
- Demonstrated initiative and results-driven approach.
- Ability to cultivate relationships, advocate for employees, guide managers, and coach leadership on effective people management.
- Excellent communication, adaptability, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A strategic outlook to align HR initiatives with business goals and foster continuous improvements.
Citizenship and Compliance
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or protected individuals as per federal law. Saab adheres to federal government contractor requirements for drug-free workplaces, including mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $92,000 to $115,000 annually, subject to factors such as experience, skills, and location.
