Role Overview

The Housekeeping Aide will be responsible for keeping resident apartments and shared spaces clean, sanitized, and well maintained.

Work Schedule

This is a Monday to Friday role, with working hours from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Responsibilities

  • Clean assigned spaces in line with the planned schedule, using the correct cleaning and sanitation methods.
  • Maintain resident apartments and common areas, including furniture, kitchen fixtures, washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lighting, vents, and windows.
  • Use floor care machines and steam-cleaning equipment as needed.
  • Carry out stripping, scrubbing, spraying, and buffing of carpeted and hard floor surfaces.
  • Collect garbage and move it to the designated disposal area.
  • Follow residence rules, safety standards, and approved work practices at all times.
  • Complete documentation and records as required by residence procedures.
  • Respect and support Resident Rights & Responsibilities.
  • Take part in training sessions to better support resident needs.
  • Attend staff meetings to stay updated on residence changes and announcements.
  • Contribute to the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Work responsibly in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
  • Represent the organization’s values, with particular attention to ethics, morality, and integrity.
  • Perform other duties when assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to give and receive day-to-day feedback effectively.
  • Working knowledge of standard institutional cleaning methods.
  • Prior experience in commercial, residential, or healthcare cleaning, including laundry tasks, is preferred.
  • Comfortable working with limited supervision.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Second-language ability is considered an advantage.
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, dated within the last six months, is required or the candidate must be willing to obtain one.
