About the Property
This opportunity is based at Hyatt Place Athens/Downtown in Athens, GA, a modern and busy hotel within the Pyramid portfolio. The property includes 190 guest rooms and 3,997 sq. ft. of meeting space. The environment is professional, fast-moving, and centered on guest service, teamwork, and growth. Team members in housekeeping, guest services, food and beverage, and operations are supported with training and advancement opportunities.
Role Overview
The House Person plays an important part in keeping the hotel clean and guest-ready. This position supports the housekeeping team by maintaining public spaces, helping room attendants, and ensuring that supplies and linens are stocked and moved where needed. Since cleanliness is a key reason guests return and recommend a hotel, this role directly contributes to guest satisfaction and the overall stay experience.
In this position, you will work closely with guests and team members, maintain a friendly and helpful attitude, and help keep the property running smoothly throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist guests in a way that supports a positive stay experience.
- Partner with the housekeeping team to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the hotel.
- Inspect assigned floors at the start and end of each shift to collect trash, linen, and other items that need removal.
- Restock clean linen and maintain the required linen levels in each floor pantry.
- Deliver requested items such as towels, cribs, and cots to guest rooms.
- Step in as a room attendant when needed.
- Replenish guest amenities and supplies in pantry areas on each floor.
- Assist room attendants with heavy lifting during deep-cleaning or spring-cleaning tasks.
- Clean public areas according to departmental procedures and standards.
- Remove soiled linen and waste from service areas and transport them to the proper disposal or storage locations.
- Respond to guests and coworkers in a courteous, supportive, and professional manner at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior housekeeping experience is preferred.
- A neat appearance and pleasant demeanor are important.
- Strong time-management skills are needed.
- You should be able to remain on your feet for long periods.
- Clear and effective communication skills are required.
- You must be able to move around frequently, reach high and low areas, identify conditions and odors, and maneuver carts weighing up to 100 lbs in tight spaces.
- Comfort with using cleaning tools and equipment such as spray bottles, vacuums, mops, brooms, dustpans, scrub pads, and dusters is necessary.
- Ability to lift, carry, and position at least 25 lbs is required.
Compensation
The role is paid at $17 per hour. Final compensation may vary depending on factors such as skills, experience level, certifications, and work location. Pay can differ by location because of labor market conditions.
