About the Role
Join our innovative hatchery team in Allora, Queensland, a cutting-edge facility specialised in hatching chicks. This permanent full-time position involves various hatchery tasks essential to the process of egg setting, chick processing, and maintaining hygiene through cleaning activities.
Working Hours and Salary
The position offers a wage starting from $30.61 per hour with a work schedule of four days per week, each consisting of 9.5-hour shifts beginning at 5:30 AM. This schedule allows finishing early afternoon with three days off weekly. Additional hours and weekend work may occasionally be requested.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct egg setting and transfer operations.
- Manage chick take-off and processing procedures.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance duties within the hatchery.
Candidate Requirements
- Physically fit and capable of standing throughout the day.
- Must pass health screening to confirm fitness for the role.
- Committed to a minimum tenure of six months.
- Adherence to strict biosecurity standards, including restrictions on keeping pet birds, poultry or pigs and limitations regarding residence with others involved in poultry or pig farming.
- Acceptance and compliance with biosecurity protocols, including shower-in shower-out procedures.
- Reliable, hardworking, with the ability to work well in a team setting.
- Comfortable working in a dusty, noisy environment with provided safety gear.
- Good communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- Prior experience in factory, production, or farming roles is favorable but not essential due to training provided.
- Applicants must have a driver's license and a car as no public transport options are available.
