About the Role
Join Coinbase as a Global Intelligence Analyst to play a critical role in safeguarding the company, its clients, and the wider cryptocurrency ecosystem against illicit activities. This position involves close collaboration with law enforcement, managing compliance investigations, and conducting detailed blockchain analysis to detect and prevent criminal activities such as fraud, money laundering, ransomware, darknet transactions, account takeovers, and scams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the principal liaison for law enforcement requests, especially serving as the designated point of contact for inquiries from Brazil, delivering technical support and legal documentation aligned with compliance policies.
- Review and manage legal information requests like subpoenas efficiently, identifying potential risks or sensitive issues tied to each inquiry.
- Perform blockchain investigations using analytical platforms such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, and Elliptic to trace unlawful funds and uncover criminal patterns.
- Lead investigative efforts into suspected criminal cases with oversight from senior personnel, developing cases from minimal initial evidence and escalating urgent matters as needed.
- Stay informed on current regulations, compliance requirements, and emerging crime trends within the crypto industry.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience collaborating with law enforcement agencies at a federal, national, or local level, within crypto, fintech, banking, or investigation environments.
- Demonstrated investigative skills capable of recognizing illicit activity patterns, constructing cases from limited data, and clearly documenting findings for official and internal use.
- Proficiency in blockchain exploration and related tools such as TRM Labs, Chainalysis, or Elliptic; familiarity with on-chain financial crime schemes is essential.
- Fluency in Portuguese, including readiness to serve as the major liaison for law enforcement from Brazil and Latin America.
- Strong judgment and communication skills to assess and respond to legal requests, and to prepare precise and comprehensive investigative reports.
- Responsible application of generative AI technologies with maintained human control to enhance workflow efficiency and quality.
Compensation and Benefits
The base annual salary range for this role is $117,385 to $138,100 USD, excluding equity and bonuses.
