Role Overview

This full-time, on-site General Practitioner position located in Wellington supports the health needs of families and the wider community in the Hutt Valley. The role requires the delivery of comprehensive primary care encompassing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of both acute and chronic medical conditions for individuals and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct medical consultations with patients to understand health concerns and symptoms.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic investigations.
• Prescribe medications as necessary to manage various health conditions.
• Coordinate care efforts with nursing staff and allied health professionals to ensure integrated service delivery.
• Promote preventive health strategies emphasizing culturally responsive approaches.
• Participate in health education and outreach activities aligned with family-centered care principles.
• Engage in continuous service improvement initiatives and contribute to the organization's quality enhancement.
• Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong clinical expertise in medicine and primary care, particularly within community-based general practice.
• Experience working alongside family medicine and nursing professionals in multidisciplinary team environments.
• Proven ability or experience in mentoring and training healthcare professionals or students, especially with focus on culturally responsive care.
• Possession of a relevant medical degree with current registration or eligibility for registration with New Zealand's medical council.
• Demonstrated respect and understanding of Pasefika cultural values including family-centred and faith-led healthcare modalities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster trust and build enduring relationships with community members.
