Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned and proactive General Manager to oversee the operations of our manufacturing plant and captive quarry located in Young, NSW. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be accountable for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operational management, driving performance, continuous improvements, and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of the manufacturing facility and quarry.
• Develop and execute business strategies and operational plans to fulfill company goals.
• Enhance productivity, safety standards, quality, and cost-effectiveness through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee budgeting, financial performance, and proper allocation of resources.
• Lead and nurture a team of approximately 25 to 30 employees.
• Manage workforce planning including recruitment, training, and evaluation of performance.
• Supervise capital and operational projects up to $5 million, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
• Foster strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures that meet established standards.
• Ensure full compliance with Work Health & Safety (WHS), mining, environmental, quality, and other legislative requirements.
• Lead risk management practices, audits, and ongoing improvement efforts.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Ceramic, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• At least 10 years' experience as a General Manager or senior operations leader in small to medium-sized enterprises.
• Proven operational knowledge of rotary kilns and shaft kilns.
• Strong abilities in strategic planning, financial oversight, and business leadership.
• Track record of enhancing operational productivity, profitability, and overall business outcomes.
• Excellent skills in communication, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making.
