Overview
Our client is looking for a Game Tools & Modding Engineer with expertise in rendering and engine-level programming to develop high-performance, real-time game applications remotely. This role extends beyond gameplay to focus on graphics systems, rendering pipelines, and optimization using APIs such as DirectX 11/12, Vulkan, OpenGL, or others.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement game systems and engine features primarily using C++ within game engines.
- Develop in-game tools and modding capabilities.
- Work closely on rendering pipelines, shader programming, and real-time graphics engines.
- Optimize CPU and GPU performance, memory usage, and rendering workloads.
- Build and enhance tools, development pipelines, and engine frameworks to facilitate game creation.
- Collaborate effectively with designers, artists, and engineering teams for superior game quality.
- Identify and fix complex issues related to rendering, performance, and platform compatibility.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented source code.
- Engage in code reviews and support technical decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- Between 3 to 6 years of professional experience in game development or real-time graphics programming.
- Expert-level skills in C++ programming.
- Proficient with one or more graphics APIs including DirectX 11/12, Vulkan, OpenGL, or Metal.
- In-depth knowledge of rendering pipelines and shader languages such as HLSL and GLSL.
- Strong foundation in 3D mathematics and graphics programming concepts.
- Experience with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
- Competent in performance tuning for CPUs, GPUs, memory management, and multithreading.
- Excellent debugging and analytical capabilities.
- Comfortable working independently within a remote and distributed team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in customizing game engines or developing low-level engine systems.
- Familiarity with graphics profiling and debugging tools such as RenderDoc, PIX, and Nsight.
- Background in optimizing for cross-platform deployment or constrained hardware environments.
- Experience in developing tooling, pipelines, or editor extensions to support game development.
- Knowledge or experience with multiplayer or large-scale system development.
