Founding Research Scientist

About the Role

Miso Labs aims to revolutionize voice technology by advancing beyond traditional STT->LLM->TTS models to develop full-duplex speech-to-speech systems. Achieving this requires pioneering new architectural concepts and rapidly scaling their applications.

As part of its founding research team, you will engage in a wide array of activities ranging from initial small-scale architecture experiments to extensive pre-training operations utilizing up to 1000 H100 GPUs. This is a collaborative, onsite position located in San Francisco; candidates must be willing to relocate, with relocation expenses covered.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in designing and training advanced speech-to-speech machine learning models.
• Conduct research and implement experiments covering the entire model training stack.
• Collaborate closely within a compact team environment to iterate and optimize model architectures.
• Manage long-term research projects and deliver end-to-end solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
• A strong enthusiasm for engaging in comprehensive aspects of model training and development.
• Ability to seamlessly combine research insights with hands-on engineering implementation.
• Demonstrated capacity to autonomously manage long-term research outcomes.
• Ability to rapidly acquire new technical skills through self-guided learning.
• Experience with PyTorch and CUDA frameworks is preferred.
