Field Service Technician Level 2

Role Overview

The Field Service Technician Level 2 is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and repairing Flowserve pumps, seals, and related mechanical equipment. This role serves a variety of sectors including oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and wastewater industries. The technician provides hands-on technical support and recommendations for maintenance, upgrades, or equipment replacements directly at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct direct on-site service visits responding to customer requests promptly.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions swiftly.
• Collaborate closely with customer teams and lead work groups when required.
• Manage the entire repair process including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly of equipment.
• Ensure successful and timely installation of equipment and verify performance at startup.
• Oversee maintenance and operational performance monitoring of Flowserve machinery.
• Train customer personnel in proper operation and maintenance procedures of Flowserve products.
• Work in coordination with internal Flowserve departments such as repair centers, customer service, and sales engineering.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of daily activities, job quotes, performed tasks, and material/time usage.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of industrial devices like pumps, valves, seals, actuators, and mechanical components.
• Perform mechanical equipment installation and pump repair tasks including seal installation and replacement of components like seal faces, gaskets, and O-rings.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering schematics, and technical drawings correctly.
• Exhibit self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving history and be prepared for domestic and international travel, sometimes for extended periods.
• Commit to working overtime as necessary to reduce customer impact.
• Handle physical activities such as lifting up to 50 pounds (25kg), climbing ladders and staircases, and working around large equipment outdoors throughout the year.
• Uphold Flowserve’s standards related to ethics, safety, and quality through communication and actions.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Candidate Profile

• Relevant professional certifications in the mechanical or service technician field.
• Ability to integrate with and work effectively alongside unfamiliar teams.
• High school diploma or GED, complemented by 3 to 5 years of applicable experience.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment installation and pump repairs including seal installations.
• Strong verbal communication and solid organizational skills.
• Familiarity and proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
