About the Company and Role
BIA Group operates in sales, rentals, and after-sales services of equipment for public works, mining, quarries, and transport sectors across Europe, Africa, and Asia, employing over 1000 staff. The Expeditor Officer position is based at the BIA Head Office in Kitwe, Zambia, on a permanent contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage operational relationships with suppliers, including ESB and local vendors.
- Conduct daily follow-up of OEM orders and coordinate with ESB Operations.
- Ensure timely delivery of parts, components, and equipment to customers both internal and external.
- Adhere to purchase order delivery schedules per the sales priority list.
- Track and update order statuses and expected arrival times within the ERP system.
- Record import cost information accurately and maintain comprehensive archival records in both paper and electronic formats.
- Oversee purchasing functions, including price and quantity control.
- Evaluate and select local non-OEM suppliers.
- Handle daily customs operations such as sommiers, bonded warehouse movements, and import/export clearances.
- Coordinate shipment logistics for parts and equipment to and from mining sites and customer locations.
- Contribute to continuous improvements within the Supply Chain process.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Business fields.
- CIPS Level 5 or 6 certification.
- Between 3 to over 5 years of procurement experience.
- Proficient with SAP systems.
- Experience in tendering and contract management.
- Knowledgeable about mining equipment, engineering spares, services, or capital projects.
- Understanding of inventory management and supply chain workflows.
- Familiarity with GR/IR mismatches.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and Power Query.
- Strong organizational abilities and effective priority management.
- Attention to detail with rigor and accuracy.
- Proactive with a spirit of initiative.
- Excellent time management capabilities to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
