About the Role
The Estimation Manager leads the estimation department for construction and infrastructure projects, overseeing the preparation and submission of tenders, developing detailed cost estimates, and ensuring that bids are both competitive and compliant. They collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, commercial, and project teams to secure successful contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and submission of both technical and commercial tender documents.
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) thoroughly.
- Create precise cost estimates, budgets, and pricing strategies tailored to project requirements.
- Manage quantity take-offs and verify the accuracy of project cost calculations.
- Work closely with procurement teams to collect quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify potential project risks and explore opportunities for value engineering to optimize costs.
- Review bid proposals to ensure adherence to client specifications and contractual obligations.
- Assist in contract negotiations and support the smooth transition of projects to execution teams.
- Monitor and improve estimating processes while maintaining comprehensive historical cost databases.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the estimation team to maintain high standards of deliverables.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in estimation within construction or infrastructure sectors, including a minimum of 5 years in a management capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in projects involving roads, bridges, rail systems, tunneling, or major building works.
- In-depth understanding of cost estimation techniques, BOQs, tendering procedures, FIDIC contracts, and value engineering principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as Candy CCS, CostX, PlanSwift, or equivalent tools, along with ERP systems.
- Strong leadership abilities coupled with analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
