Job description

Position Overview

The Engineering Technician will address guest repair requests promptly, ensuring maintenance issues are resolved efficiently with minimal supervision. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication on tools and equipment, as well as conducting visual inspections to ensure operational safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond swiftly to guest maintenance needs and communicate effectively with guests to resolve issues.
  • Carry necessary tools and equipment, including radios, and operate shut-off valves for various machinery.
  • Maintain and manage maintenance inventory; requisition parts and supplies as required.
  • Ensure seamless communication between shifts regarding daily activities and any problems encountered;
  • Interpret standard blueprints and electrical schematics, particularly for plumbing and HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in multiple technical domains such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and building management.
  • Perform complex repairs independently, ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
  • Troubleshoot various equipment including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, HVAC units, and pool heaters.
  • Utilize Lockout/Tagout procedures during maintenance operations.
  • Leverage engineering software for preventive maintenance and energy management tasks.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and provide mentorship to junior engineering staff as needed.
  • Fulfill Engineer on Duty responsibilities including system readings and rounds.
  • Comply with all company safety, security policies, and personal appearance standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguard company assets.
  • Engage with guests and colleagues professionally, delivering courteous service and fostering positive working relationships.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting objects up to 50 pounds, moving equipment with assistance, and navigating ladders and ramps safely.
  • Use computers to access and record work-related information.
  • Complete other assigned duties as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with relevant vocational or technical training.
  • At least two years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance.
  • Extensive expertise in general maintenance, electrical, refrigeration, inventory management, surface preparation, and painting.
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Compliance with applicable state and federal certifications or licensing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience and skills in maintenance-related disciplines.
