Overview of the Role
The Energy Lead operates within the technical department at the site level, reporting directly to the Technical Manager. This role collaborates with internal teams including the plant manager, asset manager, project engineers, process and manufacturing excellence teams, maintenance, and production. External collaborators include suppliers, contractors, energy consultants, regulatory authorities, and auditors.
The primary focus is on driving energy efficiency, minimizing the site's energy consumption, and supporting sustainability initiatives by introducing energy-saving measures. The role ensures compliance with energy-related regulations and promotes overall cost savings through optimized energy usage. A key mission is to lower the site's energy intensity and carbon footprint by implementing best practices, innovative projects, and adhering to corporate and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain a multi-year strategy targeting energy and greenhouse gas reduction to meet 2030 corporate targets aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), including assessing renewable energy feasibility and deploying low-carbon solutions.
- Continuously monitor site energy consumption through an Energy Management System; identify trends, inefficiencies, and communicate actionable insights.
- Analyze assets and processes to uncover energy-saving opportunities and lead relevant projects collaborating with Maintenance and Process teams to implement upgrades or procedural changes enhancing energy performance.
- Ensure compliance with local energy regulations and global energy management standards, support energy audits, documentation, and certifications consistent with ISO 50001.
- Promote energy awareness by training site operators, technicians, and stakeholders via workshops, hands-on sessions, GEMBA walks, and creating a recognition program to foster engagement.
- Track and report on key performance indicators such as energy intensity, savings, and project outcomes for informed decision-making at site and corporate levels.
- Maintain continuous communication internally and externally, including daily updates with Maintenance and Process teams, monthly management review meetings, collaboration with the Global Energy Team, and coordination with suppliers, contractors, auditors, and consultants.
Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with 3 to 5 years’ experience in engineering, maintenance, process, or energy management within manufacturing or industrial sectors; chocolate/cocoa industry experience is a plus.
- Proven success in delivering energy reduction projects and managing energy systems aligned with CO₂ reduction strategies and SBTi objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and external partners effectively.
- Leadership skills to influence, train, and motivate employees across all organizational levels.
- Strong project management capabilities, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
- Comprehensive understanding of energy management systems, HVAC, motor systems, metering technologies, and renewable energy solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial energy consumption, utilities, and production process energy flows.
- Collaborative, team-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with emerging technologies.
- Analytical skills in evaluating energy data and consumption patterns.
- Experience with Energy Monitoring Systems (EMS), local energy law compliance, and knowledge of ISO 50001 standards preferred.
