Project Background
The Eva Copper Mine Project, located in Cloncurry, Queensland on traditional Kalkadoon lands, is aimed at becoming the largest new mine in Queensland. Owned by Harmony and delivered by Bechtel through Engineering, Procurement, and Construction services, this major greenfield project involves comprehensive EPC scope for process plant and non-process infrastructure.
Role Summary
The Employee Relations Representative will monitor daily field work practices and advise management on potential or current labor issues. They will support staffing plans and wage trends, develop training and orientation programs for craft professionals, and facilitate communication among workforce to maintain positive relations and legal compliance. This role follows a FIFO roster of 2:1 based in Cloncurry, QLD.
Primary Responsibilities
- Adhere to and promote Project environmental, safety, and health policies and systems.
- Assist in creating strategies for workforce services, including employee relations and communication systems tailored to construction site needs.
- Provide proactive guidance and training to project staff and craft professionals on workforce services and compliance matters.
- Develop and customize field training programs addressing workforce services, dispute resolution, work rules, diversity, and respectful workplace conduct.
- Support legal representatives by preparing documentation for labor disputes or claims.
- Contribute to workforce services components of project orientation and site induction alongside HSE teams.
- Represent Bechtel in industrial committees as authorized by management.
- Collaborate with union representatives and subcontractors to enhance worker services programs and implement process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in HR management or industrial relations are highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations leadership within construction projects is advantageous.
- Expertise in remote major project personnel logistics including recruitment, mobilization, transportation, accommodation, training, site access, and industrial relations.
- Five to seven years of relevant experience in employee or industrial relations or human resource functions within construction, EPC, or similar industries.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Strong ability to foster collaboration across functional teams and deliver projects on schedule and budget.
- Proficient analytical and strategic planning capabilities able to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in employment relationships, industrial relations, construction trades, and leadership.
Work Conditions & Additional Information
- This position follows a 2:1 FIFO roster to Cloncurry, QLD.
- Relocation is authorized for national candidates.
- The role requires full-time onsite presence at the project location.
