Emerging Technologies Director

Position Overview

The Emerging Technologies Director will steer the innovation activities for new and next-generation technologies. This leadership role involves creating and managing frameworks, labs, and validation processes to evaluate new technology initiatives. The incumbent will ensure all technological experiments and validations are performed in controlled environments, aligned with the organization's broader strategies and standards, supporting evidence-based technology decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee an innovation and laboratory framework to translate technology strategies into functioning proofs of concept and tested solutions.
• Design, implement, and supervise specialized laboratories and test environments for comprehensive experimentation, security validation, performance assessments, and interoperability testing.
• Continuously identify, trial, and assess emerging technologies and devices to enhance future service offerings and capabilities.
• Lead structured proof-of-concept and pilot activities, coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all experiments meet outlined technical and operational requirements.
• Deliver thorough technical assessments, validation documentation, and practical recommendations to guide technology planning and architecture decisions, ensuring close alignment with governance, budgeting, and delivery operations.
• Maintain innovation initiatives in strict adherence to established technology strategies, architectures, standards, and compliance protocols for security and resilience.
• Forge and manage collaborations with vendors, manufacturers, ecosystem partners, and research bodies to facilitate technology trials and develop innovation partnerships, within company policy frameworks.
• Oversee the handover of validated technologies to operational teams, including comprehensive reporting and structured transitions in close coordination with project management and implementation stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years (or equivalent) in emerging technologies or related technology innovation roles.
