Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer role is centered on overseeing and directing electrical maintenance operations, including preventive, corrective, and overhaul activities for all electrical machinery. This is aligned with maintenance schedules, health and safety protocols, and quality benchmarks to guarantee the availability, reliability, and efficiency of plant operations.
Main Duties
- Supervise and monitor the execution of planned and reactive electrical maintenance to ensure continuous plant function.
- Manage urgent breakdown repairs and implement corrective measures to reduce operational downtime.
- Foster a maintenance culture based on equipment condition by employing troubleshooting, root cause examination, and ongoing improvements.
- Guarantee completion of electrical maintenance tasks within the defined maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot failures of critical electrical equipment, devising compliant repair strategies.
- Analyze equipment data to enhance performance and dependability.
- Conduct feasibility studies and engineering assessments for equipment upgrades or modifications.
- Draft technical specifications, project cost assessments, and evaluation documentation for installations or repairs.
- Coordinate with contractors and original equipment manufacturers for technical advice and clarifications.
- Maintain detailed records of electrical maintenance activities within SAP and maintenance logs, covering faults, repairs, labor, and materials.
- Oversee SAP processes such as notifications, work orders, scheduling, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to company standards.
- Plan and communicate material and spare parts requirements, working with procurement to secure necessary resources efficiently and within budget.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental policies including work permits and personal protective equipment usage.
- Support investigations into accidents or incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
- Build and sustain effective communication and cooperation with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers.
- Lead and mentor electrical technicians and maintenance staff, aiming to achieve team and maintenance objectives.
- Participate in initiatives geared towards continuous maintenance and reliability improvements.
- Assist with outages, shutdown events, and other major maintenance operations as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in electrical maintenance within power generation and/or water desalination facilities.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated experience managing electrical equipment outages critical to plant operations.
Essential Skills
- Proficient in electrical system maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Experienced with preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar computerized maintenance management systems.
- Skilled in root cause and downtime analysis.
- Competent in project management and maintenance planning.
- Understanding of power generation and desalination plant operations.
- Leadership abilities including coaching and personnel management.
- Strong communication and coordination capabilities.
- Knowledgeable about HSE and quality assurance standards.
- Team-oriented with effective collaboration skills.
