About Spark MicroGrants

Spark MicroGrants envisions a world where every individual lives with dignity and shapes their own positive future. Having impacted over 1350 villages across 7 countries through a community-led development approach in sub-Saharan Africa, Spark partners with NGOs and government bodies to scale and implement their model. This approach centers on facilitated community meetings complemented by a small, discretionary grant that energizes local initiatives and institution building.

Role Overview

The District Coordinator, reporting to the Ghana Country Director, will be tasked with managing government relationships and partner collaborations across multiple districts including Fanteakwa North, Abuakwa North, Nkoranza, Abuakwa South, Suhum Municipality, and Atiwa East District.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture district-level partnerships, acting as Spark MicroGrants' representative.
  • Oversee and assist the FCAP national implementing partner to ensure timely and quality program implementation.
  • Coordinate partner activities on behalf of Spark MicroGrants within assigned districts.
  • Support risk identification and resolution related to program execution.
  • Contribute to FCAP model design tailored to the local operational context.
  • Assist the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team with data collection efforts.
  • Implement lessons learned at global and national levels to enhance the FCAP.
  • Organize stakeholder engagements during project visits.
  • Provide insights for donor proposals and program reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related disciplines.
  • At least five years’ experience in community development, NGO operations, or rural development.
  • Proven success in building and sustaining district government relationships.
  • Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Familiarity with community-driven development methods is beneficial.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing and reporting proficiency.
  • Capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Twi language proficiency is an advantage.

Additional Information

  • The role requires frequent travel to Accra, project sites, and occasional international trips.
  • Primary locations are Osino and Walewale with approximately 30% travel expected.
  • An initial probation period of three months with agreed learning and performance goals.
  • The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026.
