Role overview

Boots UK is looking for a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Aberdeen, Scotland. In this role, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

You will spend your time in the healthcare area of the store, building trusted relationships with patients, understanding their needs, and supporting them with medicine-related advice and services. The role includes greeting customers, dispensing prescriptions, checking the safe sale of medicines, and helping people make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue prescriptions safely, including tasks such as ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
• Work alongside other healthcare professionals in the store to support the running and delivery of pharmacy services.
• Offer guidance to patients about medicines and direct queries to the pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed legally and safely.
• Stay current with new in-store innovations and follow operational processes.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and use medicines effectively to improve adherence and reduce waste.

Technology and development

The store uses evolving technologies and new systems that modernise dispensing work, improve patient safety, and free up more time for patient care. You will receive regular updates and training to build your healthcare knowledge, along with development opportunities such as training to become a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into store leadership.

Requirements

• You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be working towards it with the first year of an MPharm already completed.
• You must have a current and valid right to work in the UK.
• This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
• Experience in community pharmacy would be an advantage.

The advertised hourly pay is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations. This role is based in store in the UK, so remote applicants will not be considered.
