Dispatcher

About the Role

As a Dispatcher at First Student, you will play a key role in upholding the company's dedication to safety and outstanding customer care. Your main responsibility will be managing bus dispatch operations to guarantee punctual route performance and supporting drivers and monitors through direct coaching and counseling.

Primary Duties

• Manage all bus route schedules and dispatch activities.
• Provide guidance and coaching to drivers and monitors to maintain service standards.
• Manage intense phone and radio communications efficiently.
• Address scheduling issues and driver complaints, escalating them to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager as needed.
• Serve as the main contact point with key contracted clients to ensure excellent communication.
• Assist with charter booking, billing processes, and payroll administration for drivers if required.
• Resolve problems related to passenger drop-off and pick-up logistics.
• Perform back-up driver functions and miscellaneous clerical tasks as necessary.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Support daily operations supervision activities.

Experience and Qualifications

• Between 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in dispatch or terminal operations.
• Completion of high school or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic understanding of radio dispatch systems.
• Strong communication and customer service capabilities.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Previous experience in dispatch, terminal operations, or as a driver is preferred.
• Proficiency with computers and related software applications.
