Director of Global Programs

About the Role

The Director of Global Programs will play a crucial role in expanding the influence of a prominent nonprofit addressing significant challenges in democracies worldwide. This position demands strategic insight, entrepreneurial spirit, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to deliver impactful results. The organization specializes in studying and mitigating political and social polarization through research and practical leadership engagement across various countries.

Global and multi-country initiatives generate research findings, translate them into thought leadership, and implement these across broad partner networks. Recent projects have explored public attitudes toward immigration, online safety, environmental issues, the Ukraine conflict, and democracy. The new hire will lead these cross-national efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the CEO and country directors to define strategy for multinational programs.
• Design and oversee programs that achieve greater impact or funding potential through cross-country collaboration.
• Manage program scope, resources, and governance, ensuring clear roles and expectations for involved country teams.
• Represent the organization at conferences, roundtables, and high-level meetings, including deputizing for the CEO when needed.
• Develop and sustain partnerships with international networks to enhance the organization's reach, credibility, and funding.
• Lead fundraising efforts for global initiatives, crafting proposals, and managing donor relationships.
• Monitor program implementation and quality, adjusting plans to meet objectives and maintain standards.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing among country teams, building systems for access and application of insights.
• Define participation requirements within the network to balance organizational priorities and team commitments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Dedication to the organization's mission and core values.
• Proven ability to design, manage and deliver complex projects, preferably involving opinion research in diverse geographical or institutional settings.
• Experience in senior external representation, including engaging international networks, partnerships, and top stakeholders.
• Proficiency in English plus at least one of French, German, Spanish, Polish, or Portuguese.
• Extensive leadership background in international or multi-country organizations.
• Successful track record in global fundraising, proposal development, and donor relationship management.
• Skill in leading through influence without formal authority, collaborating effectively across diverse teams with distinct goals.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, capable of distilling complex topics for varied audiences.
• Interdisciplinary experience across multiple sectors, countries, and roles.
• Minimum six years of relevant work experience in public opinion research, public policy, political science, or international relations.
