Role overview
Capgemini Engineering is hiring a Design Engineer in Bengaluru for a full-time remote role. This position focuses on airframe structural design work for the Airbus A220 program, supporting a global engineering environment where every day brings different technical challenges.
What you will do
- Develop detailed designs for fuselage, wing, vertical fin, horizontal fin, and control-surface structures using Catia V5.
- Create bills of material, manage data configuration, and support fastener and material selection.
- Check engineering drawings and other deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare installation, part, and assembly drawings, along with BOM and engineering change management documentation.
- Create kit drawings for ACT/ACJ A220-100/300.
- Carry out PCR, DCP, and RFC implementation for WP 6.27, 6.21, and 6.2 on A220-100/300.
- Investigate RFCs for WP 6.27, 6.21, and 6.2.
- Analyze the impact of design changes for ATA 53-3.
- Support design tasks for A220 structural components and coordinate with project teams on requirements and technology solutions.
- Communicate with the onshore team to align on project needs and delivery timelines.
- Take part in internal knowledge sharing and capability-building activities.
- Track tasks and report progress within agreed timelines.
Experience and profile
The role calls for 6 to 10 years of experience overall, with 6 to 12 years mentioned in the profile section, specifically within the aerospace industry and on Airbus A220 design work. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with customers and design teams, handling queries on time, and supporting peer reviews of drawings, 3D models, assemblies, installations, and engineering documents.
Technical expectations
- Strong hands-on experience with Catia V5, VPM, and Airbus tools.
- Background in airframe design, including metallic and composite structures.
- Experience converting legacy primary and secondary structural parts using Catia V5 for machined, sheet metal, extruded, and composite components.
- Working knowledge of DFMA, materials and process standards, and GD&T.
- Ability to perform DMU creation and analysis.
- Solid modelling and drafting capability.
- Experience with composite CD3/CPD for composite skins and sheet metal development SL3.
- Ability to coordinate with stress, aerodynamics, materials and processes, production, and equipment suppliers within the defined scope of work.
