Role Overview
The company is hiring a Data Scientist who can connect real estate acquisitions expertise with data science. The ideal candidate has practical experience in multifamily commercial real estate, including pro forma construction, deal evaluation, and use of market intelligence tools such as CoStar, Yardi Matrix, and RealPage Market Analytics. This person will help create data-driven products for investors.
As part of the ApartmentIQ Explore Pro team, the role will collaborate with leadership, product, and engineering to shape and deliver features that make multifamily investment insights more usable. The work will influence how institutional investors review and analyze market data, while helping build next-generation investment tools.
Responsibilities
- Investigate multifamily datasets and run experiments to uncover new product opportunities and useful insights.
- Work with product managers and engineers to define needs and build data-enabled capabilities for ApartmentIQ Invest Pro.
- Convert acquisition workflows into scalable tools and features designed for institutional investors.
- Use large language models and other AI methods to speed up research, automate processes, and extract value from structured and unstructured market data.
- Serve as the go-to expert on multifamily acquisitions so the product matches real investor requirements.
- Develop documentation, dashboards, and analysis that clearly present findings and potential product directions.
- Keep up with multifamily market trends, data provider updates, AI/ML progress, and investment approaches.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in multifamily commercial real estate, with strong exposure to underwriting, deal evaluation, and pro forma modeling.
- Hands-on use of market data sources such as CoStar, Yardi Matrix, or RealPage Market Analytics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative ability, with SQL proficiency.
- Experience using LLMs or other AI/ML methods to speed research, automate analysis, or uncover insights from data.
- Familiarity with current data science practices such as model development, experimentation, and validation.
- Proven ability to collaborate across investment, product, engineering, and data science teams.
- Good commercial judgment and the ability to translate investor workflows into product features.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Entrepreneurial mindset suited to a fast-moving product-building environment.
