About the Company

Krane is an AI-enabled procurement platform built specifically for the construction industry. It supports general contractors, specialty subcontractors, and owner-buyers in managing material procurement more effectively, including long-lead equipment tracking, buyout execution, and live visibility into supply chain activity.

The platform is designed to replace fragmented spreadsheets, manual follow-ups, and disconnected procurement processes with smarter AI-driven workflows. Krane is focused on building tools for the people who understand how construction projects are really delivered.

Role Overview

Krane is hiring a Construction Project Engineer who understands day-to-day construction operations and wants to help define how AI, software, and innovation can improve the industry.

This is different from a conventional project engineer position tied to a single project or jobsite. In this role, you will collaborate with the internal team, customers, and other construction stakeholders to turn real-world workflows into scalable technology solutions.

You should bring practical construction knowledge, clear communication, and a self-directed approach. The role is suited to someone who has worked in construction, is familiar with project documentation and coordination tools, and is interested in the future of AI within the built environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with project managers, engineers, superintendents, procurement teams, and executives to understand their workflows and the operational issues they face.
  • Apply your construction background to identify ways technology can improve procurement, material tracking, project coordination, and overall efficiency.
  • Assist with customer onboarding, workflow discovery, product feedback, and implementation-related discussions.
  • Convert field and office construction processes into actionable product, process, and customer insights for the Krane team.
  • Research construction firms, projects, market segments, and stakeholders to better understand procurement and project delivery practices.
  • Work with product, operations, and leadership teams to refine messaging, workflows, and use cases for general contractors, subcontractors, and owner-buyers.
  • Join customer meetings, product demos, industry events, and site or office visits when required.
  • Contribute a builder’s perspective to a technology company and help ensure the platform addresses real construction pain points.
  • Go beyond a narrow job scope and help support Krane’s growth across the construction sector.

Candidate Profile

  • You have at least 2 years of experience in construction, project engineering, project coordination, field engineering, construction management, or a similar function.
  • You are comfortable using construction software and project tools such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Excel, or comparable platforms.
  • You understand how construction projects are planned, coordinated, documented, and executed.
  • You are interested in technology, innovation, AI, and the future of construction.
  • You can communicate effectively with project teams, executives, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • You are highly organized, detail-focused, and capable of handling several conversations, tasks, and priorities at the same time.
  • You take initiative, enjoy working through unclear problems, and can build processes from the ground up.
  • You learn quickly, take feedback well, and adapt easily in a fast-moving startup setting.
  • You demonstrate humility, strong ownership, and a bias for action.

Preferred Experience

  • Background with a general contractor, specialty subcontractor, owner’s representative, or construction management firm.
  • Exposure to procurement, buyout, submittals, RFIs, material tracking, scheduling, or project controls.
  • Experience in data centers, healthcare, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or other large-scale construction environments.
  • Comfort engaging with executives, project teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Interest in construction technology, SaaS, AI tools, workflow automation, or startup environments.
  • Experience creating processes, templates, dashboards, reports, or internal systems for a construction team.

What Krane Offers

  • Competitive pay.
  • Meaningful equity in an early-stage, venture-backed company.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Support for learning and development across construction, technology, and professional growth.
  • Direct exposure to founders, builders, and industry leaders.
  • A high-energy team in Austin where ideas are valued and the work has immediate impact.
  • The opportunity to help shape how AI transforms one of the largest industries in the world.

Location

This position is fully on-site in Austin, Texas. Candidates need to be able to work from the Austin office and meet with construction customers and industry stakeholders as required.
