Job Summary

The role of Compliance Officer is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. This full-time position involves supporting the implementation and oversight of the company's compliance framework to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, organizational policies, ethical standards, and contractual obligations across all EPC projects and corporate functions.

Responsibilities

Monitor adherence to relevant laws, industry regulations, and statutory demands.
Maintain an updated register of compliance obligations and track changes in regulations.
Handle statutory filings, licenses, permits, and certifications; liaise with regulatory bodies and assist during external compliance audits and inspections.
Ensure company policies, procedures, and authority limits are followed; assess business processes for weaknesses and recommend enhancements.
Support policy reviews to align with evolving legal and business needs and foster ethical conduct consistent with the company Code of Business Conduct.
Conduct routine compliance checks in projects, procurement, finance, HR, logistics, HSE, and operational areas including compliance audits and site visits.
Oversee corrective and preventive actions following audits, prepare compliance reports and dashboards for management insight.
Identify compliance risks, maintain the Compliance Risk Register, escalate significant risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
Assist investigations into policy violations, unethical behavior, fraud, or compliance breaches, including evidence gathering and report preparation.
Deliver training programs and awareness campaigns on compliance and ethics, conduct employee inductions, encouraging a culture of integrity and whistleblower protection.
Maintain thorough compliance documentation and reporting records; track key performance indicators and recommend ongoing improvements.
Oversee project compliance with client contracts, including HSE, quality, environmental, labor, and governance standards, participating in project mobilization and reviews as needed.
Uphold company health, safety, quality, and environmental standards and legal requirements, ensuring personal and stakeholder safety across operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is advantageous.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), ISO 37301 Compliance Management Systems, and ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management Systems preferred.
Between 3 to 6 years' experience in compliance, internal audit, risk management, corporate governance, legal, or internal controls, ideally within EPC, oil and gas, construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
Strong communication skills suitable for all organizational levels.
Excellent organizational skills and time management capabilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
