Role Summary

The Commis I Chef will contribute to preparing and presenting superior quality cuisine, aiming to provide outstanding guest experiences. Positioned within the kitchen team, the role demands supporting the preparation and service processes to meet departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present dishes that meet hotel recipe standards, appropriate portions, and visual presentation guidelines.
• Assist senior kitchen staff such as the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie in managing daily kitchen operations.
• Maintain consistency and high quality in food preparation across a la carte service, buffets, banquets, and special events.
• Efficiently organize mise en place to ensure smooth kitchen workflow during service periods.
• Uphold cleanliness, orderliness, and sanitation of workstations and equipment following HACCP and hotel protocols.
• Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and health and safety guidelines at all times.
• Receive, store, rotate, and monitor food stock employing FIFO principles to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
• Assist in managing stock control, inventory, and ordering of food supplies when necessary.
• Collaborate effectively with the culinary team to facilitate prompt service and deliver exceptional guest satisfaction.
• Report any faults in equipment, maintenance needs, or concerns regarding food quality promptly to higher kitchen management.
• Show eagerness to learn new culinary techniques and continually improve professional skills and knowledge.

Required Qualifications and Attributes

• Demonstrated creativity and passion for culinary arts and providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
• Relevant culinary certifications or diplomas are advantageous.
