  • Investigate community complaints related to potential code violations; educate property and business owners about the steps required to achieve compliance.
  • Prepare comprehensive case reports encompassing relevant details, photographs, historical data, and represent the city in legal proceedings for persistent violations.
  • Research property records to determine legal ownership, zoning, and applicable ordinances.
  • Issue formal notifications and follow-up communications to address deficiencies or non-compliance, including setting deadlines for corrective actions.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in inspection codes and relevant regulations in designated inspection areas.
  • Present code compliance guidelines and standards to the public, acting as a resource for the community.
  • Serve as a liaison among city departments, property owners, and external stakeholders.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development through meetings, seminars, and training programs.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution is required; relevant experience may substitute year-for-year for education requirements.

  • Previous government experience is an advantage.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid New Mexico driver's license by date of hire.
