Position Overview

The Clinical Applications Analyst specializing as a PACS Administrator plays a vital role in managing and supporting Picture Archiving and Communication Systems used in radiology and cardiology departments. This IT healthcare professional ensures smooth daily operations, system maintenance, and collaboration among clinical teams, IT staff, and vendors to facilitate effective medical imaging and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations and maintenance of PACS and associated imaging systems to guarantee continuous availability and optimal performance.
  • Conduct system backups, routine maintenance procedures, and quality assurance checks to uphold system integrity.
  • Coordinate and implement system upgrades, software patches, and hardware installations collaboratively with clinical departments, IT teams, and external vendors.
  • Oversee integration efforts involving new imaging modalities and interfacing systems such as Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) to support enhanced workflow.
  • Manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently, maintaining effective communication across all stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess an associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Radiologic Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise with PACS software platforms and networking principles including database management using SQL.
  • Strong understanding of technical healthcare standards such as DICOM and HL7.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience within radiology, cardiology, or related clinical IT fields; prior IT industry experience is favored.
  • Knowledge of major PACS platforms including Change Healthcare, GE, Philips, or Sectra.
  • Relevant certifications like Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP), Certified PACS Associate (CPAS), or equivalent credentials strongly preferred.
