Role Overview
The Client Onboarding Manager will shepherd new customers acquired through partnerships through the entire implementation journey — from initial handoff and kickoff all the way to a successful payroll launch. This role is hands-on and customer-facing, blending project management, system configuration, payroll expertise, customer training, and cross-team collaboration.
Collaborating closely with customers, partner Implementation Managers, and internal Connecteam teams, the manager ensures accurate setup and validation of employee data, time tracking, PTO, payroll rules, and payroll system integrations. Onboarding timelines are centered on the customer's first clock-in and payroll cycle, with post-launch support spanning one to three payroll cycles depending on complexity. Success relies on strong interpersonal skills, the ability to read dynamics rapidly, and maintaining trust across diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire onboarding process for customers from handoff to go-live and payroll stabilization.
- Oversee a portfolio of partnership-originated customers, ensuring smooth implementation aligned with payroll schedules and training needs.
- Develop detailed implementation plans factoring in clock-in dates, payroll deadlines, and training requirements.
- Lead project kickoff, configuration setup, customer training sessions, and payroll processing activities.
- Maintain clear documentation of timelines, responsibilities, risk factors, and communicate proactively with customers.
- Conduct discovery sessions to fully understand customer workflows and translate business needs into effective Connecteam configurations.
- Design appropriate solutions for complex requirements and configure necessary integrations and account settings.
- Deliver customized training to clients and their managers on platform usage, time tracking, and payroll workflows.
- Coordinate efforts across customers, partner teams, sales, support, product, integrations, and leadership.
- Troubleshoot workflow issues, escalate risks especially those impacting payroll, and ensure thorough documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive account records, including decisions, risks, next steps, and handoff materials.
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years in SaaS implementation, onboarding, or customer-facing roles serving SMB and mid-market clients.
- Proven project management aptitude managing multiple implementations simultaneously.
- Strong communication, presentation, and training capabilities able to convey technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Tech-savviness with quick learning curve for software products, troubleshooting, integrations, and data flow comprehension.
- Excellent organization, detail orientation, and a customer-centric mindset for managing complex projects.
- Ability to build and maintain trust with customers and cross-functional internal and external teams.
- Good problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and flexibility to adapt to changing customer needs and ambiguous situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in payroll, HRIS, workforce management, scheduling, time and attendance, or employee management software.
- Background supporting payroll implementations, PEO environments, or multi-location and multi-entity organizations.
- Familiarity with partner-led or channel-based customer support models.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Paid leave including vacation and sick days.
- 401(k) retirement plan options.
