About Timescapes
Established in New Zealand in 2017, Timescapes innovates the construction industry by enabling project teams to operate more rapidly, safely, and intelligently, while maintaining complete transparency throughout every project phase. Through proprietary hardware and software, we keep projects on schedule, providing all stakeholders with clear site visibility. Currently, with a 50-person team, Timescapes is expanding quickly across New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the US, scaling revenues from $10 million ARR towards $50 million.
Position Overview
We seek a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will serve as the operational catalyst for our fast-growing enterprise and act as the CEO's trusted second-in-command. You will oversee Timescapes' daily operations and establish scalable foundations that empower substantial growth, enabling the CEO to concentrate on strategic direction. This role involves constructing and enhancing operational systems originating from current CEO responsibilities including commercial risk and operational rhythms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational systems and infrastructure capable of supporting accelerated growth to 10 times current volumes.
- Manage the company’s operating rhythm encompassing leadership meetings, business reviews, and quarterly planning to maintain alignment and progress.
- Administer core business systems such as ERP, CRM, field service, and billing, ensuring seamless connection between production and delivery.
- Build foundational data and business intelligence capabilities from scratch to provide real-time, cross-market insights without dependency on manual reporting.
- Organize information and knowledge management structures to facilitate efficient business operations and future applied AI initiatives.
- Support the evolution towards AI-native operations by laying the operational groundwork.
- Oversee end-to-end operational flows covering product distribution, logistics, fleet management, installations, and service teams across key international markets.
- Ensure exceptional customer operational experience including installation quality, initial site engagement, uptime, and response responsiveness.
- Manage gross margin and identify efficiency gains as the lease fleet of cameras and operational volume scale.
- Supervise operational finance activities via the Financial Controller across four markets and currencies, including spend, payroll, reporting, and equity administration.
- Take ownership of commercial risk and compliance functions such as contract approvals, playbooks, insurance, and risk frameworks, partnering with external legal counsel and potentially bringing in-house legal resources.
- Lead health and safety, privacy, IT security standards to meet rigorous obligations of a technology company with physical site presence.
- Embody and promote core company values, fostering cultural strength during growth.
- Serve as an inspirational leader and standard-bearer beyond personal teams, building cross-functional cohesion.
- Develop leadership talent and deepen organizational bench strength, championing company values consistently.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience acting as a second-in-command operational leader in a scaling company.
- Demonstrated success building operational infrastructures in the $10M to $50M revenue band.
- Strong change leadership skills with the ability to drive transformation and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on operational style with an ability to navigate detail and strategy in balance.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills enabling alignment across functions without direct authority.
- Experience managing commercial risk, insurance, compliance, and physical operations including supply chain and fleet oversight.
- Familiarity with developing data and BI capabilities is highly desirable.
- Global mindset to coordinate across multiple time zones and willingness to travel across four markets.
