Overview
Pacific Health Group stands as one of New Zealand's leading providers of integrated wellbeing and health services, with recent expansions into Australia. We are seeking a seasoned technology executive to assume the role of Chief Information Officer, becoming an integral member of our Senior Leadership Team and shaping technology strategy across both New Zealand and Australian operations. This position requires presence at both our East Tamaki and Shortland Street offices during the workweek.
Role Summary
This role goes beyond traditional IT management; it involves crafting and executing a strategic technology vision that drives business growth, supports acquisitions, fortifies cybersecurity, enhances digital capabilities, and delivers exceptional experiences for staff and customers alike.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee teams managing infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, service delivery, and business systems, collaborating closely with the Chief Innovation Officer on digital transformation and development initiatives. The role demands a balance of strategic foresight and hands-on management in a dynamic environment where you might present technology roadmaps to the Board one day and engage in prioritizing initiatives or resolving operational issues the next.
Our technology environment encompasses a diverse ecosystem, including multiple Microsoft platforms, custom and vendor applications, virtual data centers, and a private nationwide WAN/LAN spanning New Zealand and Australia. The incumbent must skillfully navigate complexity and change to provide clear direction and effective technological solutions.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings extensive leadership experience across varied technology functions within complex, commercially oriented organizations. You understand uniting disparate systems, vendors, and teams around a cohesive technology strategy.
Essential Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership of broad technology portfolios covering infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation
- Experience in commercially driven environments where technology investment aligns tightly with business value
- Proven success delivering system integrations, transformation projects, and managing organizational change
- Strong financial acumen managing sizable technology budgets and vendor partnerships
- A collaborative leadership style that fosters trust among both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to combine strategic vision with practical involvement in operations
- History of guiding high-performance teams through periods of expansion and change
Personal Attributes
Being personable, adaptable, and pragmatic will be crucial. You recognize that the effectiveness of technology leadership hinges equally on relationship building, influence, and communication as on technical expertise.
Why Join Us?
This position offers a significant leadership opportunity with substantial influence on the organization's future trajectory. You will engage in a workplace culture emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and continuous growth while leading technology initiatives that enhance health outcomes across communities in both New Zealand and Australia.
Benefits
- Senior leadership role with meaningful organizational impact
- Competitive salary package
- Culture grounded in shared values and teamwork
- Opportunity to spearhead transformative digital projects within a complex healthcare setting
- Wellness programs including annual vision check-ups, flu vaccinations, access to employee assistance programs, and discounts on health services
