Position overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the organization’s senior-most finance leader, directing financial strategy, capital planning, and long-term value creation. This role oversees the full spectrum of finance, including funding decisions, financial operations, investment planning, mergers and acquisitions, risk oversight, compliance, tax, treasury, and shareholder value growth. In essence, the CFO acts as the principal guardian of corporate capital, strategy, and sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities
The CFO will be expected to lead corporate finance across strategic, operational, and governance areas, while partnering closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Audit Committee.
- Design and execute the company’s financial strategy, including capital structure planning and long-range funding approaches.
- Support profitable growth by aligning financial plans with the organization’s long-term business goals.
- Oversee global financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and process efficiency.
- Manage equity and debt financing initiatives, and maintain relationships with investment banks and capital market partners.
- Support transactions such as IPO readiness and refinancing activities.
- Assess strategic investment opportunities and lead financial evaluation for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate development initiatives.
- Improve capital allocation decisions to strengthen enterprise value.
- Build and maintain internal control frameworks, manage financial risk, and ensure compliance across global operations.
- Direct tax and treasury functions, including global tax structuring, liquidity management, and cash flow optimization.
- Champion AI-enabled financial analysis, automation, and digital finance transformation.
- Lead investor relations efforts and communicate effectively with analysts and institutional investors.
- Provide high-level financial counsel to the CEO and Board to support major business decisions.
- Evaluate long-term opportunities and risks that may affect the company’s financial performance.
- Develop and lead global finance teams, strengthen organizational capability, and build future finance talent.
Qualifications and experience
Ideal candidates typically come from finance, accounting, economics, or business management backgrounds. Professional credentials such as CPA, CFA, or an MBA are commonly associated with this level of responsibility. The role generally calls for 15 to 30+ years of experience in finance and capital management, along with prior leadership experience in large organizations and exposure to global finance, capital markets, and financing functions.
