About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Auckland, New Zealand, with flexible remote working options. Working within the Woolworths Group, you will contribute to serving over 24 million customers weekly by improving category performance and creating future-focused strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category strategy by leveraging customer insights and market trends.
- Manage product assortment, pricing, promotions, and placement to drive sales growth and profitability.
- Work closely with suppliers to optimize portfolio and enhance customer experience and advocacy.
- Ensure compliance of all category products with Australian consumer law requirements.
- Achieve financial targets including sales, profit, inventory control, and market share objectives.
- Deliver non-financial performance metrics such as team development, supplier and customer satisfaction.
- Create and oversee customer-centric category plans and conduct regular reviews.
- Source innovative products that offer a competitive edge.
- Negotiate with suppliers regarding product range, cost of goods sold (COGS), and promotional investments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Online, Replenishment, Customer Insights, and Rewards teams.
Candidate Profile
- Proven background as a Category Manager or similar role within large retail or FMCG sectors.
- Track record of designing and executing customer-driven category plans that align with divisional goals.
- Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills for engaging both internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to develop deep industry expertise relevant to the New Zealand and Australian markets.
- A passion for product innovation and continuous improvement.
