Overview
Keolis.MHI invites applications for the role of Cadet Technician based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This permanent full-time role is central to assisting the line maintenance team by providing thorough technical support, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the rolling stock for Dubai Metro.
Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and operational goals by diligently executing assigned technical tasks.
- Contribute to safe, reliable, and efficient metro service by complying with approved procedures and standards.
- Help reduce maintenance expenses through proper practices, avoiding rework and unnecessary wastage.
- Ensure correct usage and upkeep of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Identify defects early to prevent costly failures or disruptions.
- Maintain proactive communication with internal stakeholders such as team leaders and engineers.
- Support excellent customer experience by executing maintenance safely and efficiently.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance independently in line with manuals and safety protocols.
- Assist with inspections, technical cleaning, testing, fault diagnosis, and repairs of trains and equipment.
- Complete maintenance records, checklists, and defect reports accurately within the maintenance management system.
- Adhere to health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements across depots, workshops, and onsite locations.
- Work shifts across various workshop facilities within Dubai Metro, demonstrating good eyesight and normal color vision.
- Foster teamwork, knowledge sharing, and uphold a professional, healthy workplace environment.
- Comply with safety regulations and environmental standards relevant to maintenance activities.
Capabilities and Competencies
First Year Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of technical systems with ability to perform simple inspections, component replacements, and equipment cleaning.
- Competent use of basic tools and measuring instruments.
- Ability to accurately fill out maintenance checklists, measurement forms, and records.
- Awareness of workplace safety rules, personal protective equipment usage, and safe work practices.
First Year Behavioural Skills:
- Exemplary discipline with punctuality and adherence to company policies.
- Effective communication and active listening skills.
- Teamwork demonstrated through information sharing and supporting peers.
From Second Year Onwards - Advanced Technical Knowledge:
- Understanding mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and ability to trace circuits.
- Capability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance including safety-critical inspections and defect reporting.
- Proper use of advanced diagnostic tools.
- Strict adherence to filling maintenance documentation accurately and following work procedures.
- Enhanced safety practices including lockout/tagout and reporting unsafe conditions.
From Second Year Onwards - Advanced Behavioural Competencies:
- Maintain discipline and excellent attendance.
- Clear and effective technical communication with stakeholders.
- Sound decision-making with risk assessment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster professionalism and team motivation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Educational background: ITI or Diploma in electrical, electronics, mechanical, or automobile engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of technical experience.
- Skills: Basic English communication, listening ability, understanding of safety and housekeeping practices, and teamwork capability.
