Job Overview

AlphaX is seeking an experienced BIM Modeler/Detailer to join our team in Center Line, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise electrical BIM models and well-coordinated construction drawings for sizable commercial projects, including healthcare and institutional facilities. The position involves active collaboration with project managers, onsite staff, and VDC teams to deliver clash-free models that facilitate smooth coordination, efficient installations, and successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update comprehensive electrical BIM models for large-scale commercial projects.
• Generate coordinated drawings including installation, shop, and prefabrication plans derived from contractual documents.
• Conduct clash detection and work alongside other trades to resolve conflicts prior to construction.
• Analyze project drawings and specifications to ensure models accurately represent design intent and project needs.
• Coordinate with project management, field supervisors, and VDC professionals to integrate design modifications and on-site revisions.
• Create detailed layout, sleeve, hanger, and additional installation drawings to assist field operations.
• Engage in BIM coordination meetings involving general contractors, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
• Ensure model precision is maintained throughout all project phases including updates and as-built documentation.
• Adhere to company BIM standards, best modeling practices, and project timelines to produce top-quality deliverables.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of three years experience as an Electrical BIM Modeler, BIM Detailer, VDC Designer, or similar role within commercial construction.
• Practical expertise in modeling electrical systems for commercial ventures, particularly healthcare, institutional, or large-scale facilities.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks software.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial electrical construction processes, including conduit pathways, equipment placements, and installation sequences.
• Ability to interpret and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and related contract documents.
• Experience with clash detection and model coordination across various trades.
• Preferred educational background includes an associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in drafting, BIM, electrical design, or a related discipline.
• Commercial electrical BIM experience is a must; purely residential BIM experience does not qualify.
