Role Overview

This position is a full-time, on-premise Barista located at the Perth, Western Australia branch of Cafe Des Arts. The primary responsibility involves crafting and serving a diverse range of coffee and espresso-based drinks, alongside teas and other beverages, while consistently maintaining quality standards. Additional duties include taking customer orders, operating coffee machines, preparing light snacks and pastries, and ensuring the work area remains clean, safe, and well-organized.

The Barista will deliver warm and attentive customer service, provide product information as needed, handle accurate payment transactions, and adhere to strict hygiene and safety regulations. Collaboration with the team is essential to facilitate smooth daily café operations, such as restocking inventory and assisting with opening and closing procedures.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Strong abilities in customer service and interpersonal communication.
• Proven barista skills, including experience in coffee and espresso drink preparation and basic food handling.
• Effective communication capabilities to engage with customers and work well with fellow team members.
• Adept at thriving in fast-paced settings, with keen attention to detail and efficient time management.
• Competence in rudimentary cash handling and usage of point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices; relevant certifications are advantageous.
• Previous experience in cafés, coffee shops, or related hospitality roles is preferred but not mandatory.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.
