Audiologist

Position Responsibilities

• Identify patients' hearing impairments and balance disorders by consulting with referring physicians, choosing and performing electrophysiological and other relevant tests, managing diagnostic equipment, determining the type and severity of hearing loss, assessing impacts on comprehension and speech, interpreting audiometric diagnostic results, and preparing detailed diagnostic reports.
• Conduct evaluation, fitting, and verification of amplification devices including assistive listening tools; assess suitability of amplification systems for individuals with hearing loss, evaluate benefits, and provide counseling and training on device usage.
• Participate as a member of the implant team for devices such as cochlear implants, middle ear implantable hearing aids, fully implantable hearing aids, bone-anchored hearing aids, and other amplification or signal processing devices; determine audiologic candidacy based on hearing and communication assessment.
• Deliver pre- and post-surgical assessments, counseling, and comprehensive audiologic treatments including auditory training, rehabilitation, implant programming, and maintenance of implant hardware and software.
• Monitor intraoperative neurophysiologic activity; administer and interpret electrophysiologic measurements of neural function including sensory and motor evoked potentials, nerve conduction velocity tests, and electromyography; support differential diagnosis, evaluation of neural function pre- and post-operation, and intraoperative monitoring for central nervous system, spinal cord, and cranial nerve function.
• Maintain patient records accurately by documenting evaluations, treatment progress, changes, and outcomes.
• Enhance quality outcomes by analyzing and redesigning processes, implementing improvements, engaging in research studies, and evaluating new equipment, devices, and methodologies.
• Conduct auditory evaluations and deliver education on hearing protection by measuring noise exposure and running hearing loss screening programs.
• Oversee inventory of supplies by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying receipt of items.
• Ensure compliance with legal and accreditation requirements by adhering to relevant federal, state, and local regulations and professional standards.
• Keep skills and knowledge current by following trends in techniques and approaches, participating in educational opportunities, reviewing professional literature, maintaining professional networks, and joining relevant organizations.
• Contribute to organizational success by accepting responsibility for new requests and identifying ways to add value in job performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Audiology, Speech and Hearing, or a Direct Entry Master’s degree in Audiology is required.
• Minimum of two years of professional experience as an Audiologist.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
