About the Role
Join the Illawarra Academy of Sport (IAS) in Wollongong, NSW, as an Athlete Services Officer, a key contributor to the delivery of superior athlete development initiatives across the Illawarra and NSW South-East regions. Reporting to the Head of Athlete Development, this position focuses on operational and administrative support across various athlete programs, involving close coordination with athletes, coaches, sporting organisations, schools, and community partners to foster both sporting excellence and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and manage athlete development programs, events, workshops, and camps to ensure seamless delivery.
- Support coaches and support teams through effective scheduling, onboarding, and communication.
- Maintain consistent, professional communication with athletes, parents, and sporting partners.
- Coordinate logistics such as travel, accommodation, venues, and operational arrangements.
- Keep accurate records and databases regarding athletes, coaches, and programs.
- Assist in stakeholder engagement and nurture partnerships.
- Develop content for newsletters, social media platforms, and athlete stories.
- Support governance, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven organizational and time management capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships and manage stakeholders effectively.
- High attention to detail and excellent administrative skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in sport administration, business administration, project management, or related fields.
- Prior experience in administration, event coordination, or program delivery, preferably in sport, recreation, education, or community sectors.
- Familiarity with athlete development pathways and Australian sporting systems is advantageous.
- Experience in communications, social media, or content creation is desirable.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid Working With Children Check.
- Current valid Driver's Licence.
- Availability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
