About Mercy Hospice
Mercy Hospice provides specialist palliative care to individuals in central Auckland living with life-limiting illnesses. Our focus is to enhance quality of life while supporting families and whānau through compassionate, holistic care that addresses physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs.
Role Overview
We are seeking a warm, creative person passionate about retail and committed to contributing positively to our team. The part-time Assistant Retail Manager will help operate our Parnell store, ensuring excellent customer service, appropriate pricing, and strong community engagement. This role involves working three shifts weekly, including weekends, with potential for split duties between two candidates and opportunities to cover extra shifts during team absences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with store operations such as opening/closing, volunteer coordination, donation sorting, pricing, and customer service;
- Support attractive and effective merchandising to enhance shopper experience and increase sales;
- Deliver outstanding customer engagement by greeting buyers, meeting their needs, and resolving issues professionally;
- Collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers to maintain smooth business flow and a positive workplace;
- Manage cash handling, store organization, and health and safety compliance.
Required Skills and Experience
- Prior retail or related experience with a strong sense for merchandising and store presentation;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact well with customers, staff, and volunteers;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively;
- Competent using point-of-sale systems;
- Passion for the mission of Mercy Hospice and motivation to make a meaningful difference.
