Role Summary
The Assistant Manager in Fixed Assets will operate within the Finance Centre of Excellence, responsible for comprehensive accounting and governance of fixed assets, leases, and Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO). This includes maintaining compliance with GAAP and internal controls while collaborating with multiple stakeholders. The role is also tasked with driving process enhancements and automation in the fixed assets domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee complete accounting processes related to fixed assets: capitalization, depreciation, impairments, transfers, and disposals.
- Manage capital expenditure and fixed asset accounting ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Account for leases and Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO) according to GAAP.
- Compile and maintain detailed fixed assets, leases, and ARO schedules and related balance sheets.
- Prepare and scrutinize reconciliations associated with fixed assets and promptly address discrepancies.
- Maintain general ledger cleanliness by resolving open items in SAP.
- Review accruals concerning capital expenditure and fixed assets to validate accurate financial statements.
- Generate monthly MIS reports for both Indian and international units focusing on fixed assets and capital expenses.
- Conduct monthly variance analyses with management commentary.
- Prepare consolidated schedules, respond to queries related to consolidation, and assist in financial review processes.
- Create standard and ad hoc reports plus key performance indicators related to fixed assets and capital expenditure.
- Serve as the main point of contact for statutory auditors on matters relating to fixed assets, leases, and ARO.
- Ensure timely completion of statutory audits and audit-related deliverables.
- Submit audit documentation and respond promptly to auditor inquiries.
- Support internal audits along with other external evaluations including tax and regulatory assessments.
- Collaborate across functions for approval workflows, asset tagging, and reporting requirements linked to capital expenditure.
- Champion simplification, standardization, and automation efforts within fixed assets accounting and reporting processes.
- Support adherence and implementation of finance guidelines, policies, and standards.
- Engage in ongoing improvement projects within the Finance Centre of Excellence.
Qualifications and Skills
- Professional certification like CA, ACCA, or equivalent is required.
- Between 1 to 3 years of relevant finance experience, preferably with fixed asset and capital expenditure accounting exposure.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with SAP ERP systems.
- Solid grasp of financial and accounting principles.
- Knowledge of lease accounting, ARO, and asset accounting as per GAAP.
- Competency in financial analysis and reporting software tools.
- Understanding of related finance areas such as taxation, treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Excellent communication skills combined with strong stakeholder management capabilities.
