Role Overview
The Assistant Designer role within our own brand team is vital for conceiving and developing products in your designated category. Reporting to the Own Brand Buying Manager, you will be instrumental in fostering innovation and creativity along the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and align with company-wide strategies and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Collaborate closely with manufacturers to guarantee smooth development handovers, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete submission of sample technical packs.
- Liaise regularly with the Design Team to address any critical design issues or improvements promptly.
- Choose and source materials including fabric, colorways, and trims while ensuring alignment with company quality standards.
- Participate in fit sessions applying technical expertise to achieve optimal fit and approve final samples when necessary.
- Assist with managing samples, technical packs, and technical drawings.
- Support trend forecasting efforts to stay ahead of market movements.
- Approve all elements of the final product to ensure compliance with the original design brief.
- Understand suppliers’ manufacturing structures to identify cost and production efficiencies for every design submitted.
- Contribute to range planning meetings to ensure a well-balanced assortment in terms of style, colors, and materials.
- Maintain and update range boards as per planning requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in design teams focused on product development or design.
- Proven experience in print, fabric, and trim development.
- Excellent communication and negotiation aptitudes.
- Strong commercial fashion sense paired with trend forecasting capabilities.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is advantageous.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
