Role Overview
This mobile position requires supporting multiple courts and tribunal sites around Leeds, with variable shifts tailored to operational needs during weekdays. The Area Relief Officer ensures a secure, safe, and hospitable environment by managing access, overseeing security measures, and promptly handling incidents. You will collaborate closely with team members and the court service to uphold high standards of security and customer care.
Key Responsibilities
- Flexibly cover various locations within the designated area.
- Deliver a professional and welcoming service to all court attendees.
- Manage building entry points and enforce security protocols continuously.
- Operate surveillance and screening devices, such as CCTV, x-ray scanners, and handheld metal detectors.
- Perform searches per established site guidelines.
- Patrol both public and restricted zones while maintaining communication with control centers.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to security alarms, incidents, and concerns.
- Log all incidents and activities accurately and comprehensively.
- Facilitate the secure movement of individuals inside the premises.
- Consistently maintain professionalism and adhere to compliance policies.
Candidate Requirements
- Valid eligibility to work in the UK and ability to pass enhanced DBS and BS7858 background screenings.
- Possession of a current SIA licence with relevant security experience.
- Having a full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and professional working style.
- Ability to adapt to multiple sites and shifting priorities flexibly.
- Sound knowledge of security processes and health & safety laws.
- Capable of remaining composed and efficient during challenging incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in public sector or regulated settings.
- Familiarity with handling security technology including CCTV and screening equipment.
