Role Summary
Chemetal is seeking a skilled Architectural Product Designer to join their team in Easthampton, MA. This role demands a motivated individual experienced in architectural product design or advanced millwork and metal fabrication. Candidates should be proficient with CAD and Adobe Creative Suite and possess both design and hands-on fabrication capabilities—especially with metal. The position requires in-person work at the company's Easthampton facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with architectural and design firms as well as fabricators, presenting technical design solutions.
- Prepare, refine, and optimize vector files and toolpaths suitable for CNC machining and precision laser cutting equipment.
- Supervise the building of physical prototypes, working closely with shop craftsmen to resolve production issues.
- Estimate costs related to CAD and CNC projects.
- Partner with design and sales teams to develop premium metal interior materials, including both in-house and externally sourced products.
- Engage in hands-on fabrication processes.
Qualifications
- Eight or more years of experience in architectural product design or high-end millwork and metal fabrication.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in CAD software and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Demonstrated practical design and fabrication abilities, ideally involving metal materials.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Availability to work onsite at Easthampton, MA.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Industrial Design.
