Role Overview
This full-time, on-site Architectural Designer position located in Lower Hutt involves contributing to concept creation, schematic and detailed design for various project types. Typical duties include generating construction drawings, creating models, preparing documentation that facilitates project completion, coordinating with engineers and consultants, aiding planning approval applications, and supporting project managers to satisfy design and regulatory standards. Regular collaboration with peers, participation in design reviews, site visits as needed, and ensuring alignment with Studio One's sustainability and community-centric values are integral to the role.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- A strong background in Architecture and Architectural Design, with practical experience in education, residential, community, or commercial projects.
- Expertise in producing construction drawings and technical documents that convert design ideas into feasible building details.
- Proficiency in drawing, sketching, and visual communication supported by relevant digital software tools such as CAD or BIM platforms.
- Understanding of urban planning concepts affecting site planning, community influence, and regulatory adherence.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in architecture or architectural technology.
- Familiarity with New Zealand building codes, standards, and consent procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities for effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail, efficient time management, and a proactive attitude towards learning and engaging with projects of varying complexity.

Diploma / ITI / Vocational
