Role Overview

The organization is looking for a seasoned Archaeology Manager to direct archaeological studies, heritage evaluations, and cultural resource management initiatives across several projects. This position is responsible for leading field operations, supervising archaeological staff, maintaining compliance with regulations, and working with internal and external partners to align development priorities with heritage protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement archaeological and heritage management plans that meet legal requirements, project goals, and preservation objectives.
• Direct surveys, excavations, site evaluations, research work, and documentation across both field and office settings.
• Coordinate with government departments, heritage bodies, developers, engineers, planners, consultants, and research organizations to ensure adherence to cultural heritage regulations and professional standards.
• Handle cultural resource management activities such as site detection, impact evaluation, mitigation planning, and formal reporting.
• Supervise field personnel including archaeologists, technicians, researchers, and support teams while maintaining safety, accuracy, and consistent methods.
• Track project KPIs such as delivery schedules, research quality, compliance, excavation precision, documentation completeness, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Ensure observance of national heritage laws, UNESCO guidance, environmental policies, and international archaeology standards.
• Carry out artifact review, site interpretation, historical research, mapping, GIS-based records, and data management to strengthen findings.
• Design excavation approaches, research structures, conservation plans, and reporting templates for archaeological assignments.
• Use GIS tools, remote sensing, surveying equipment, and digital record systems to support fieldwork and site management.
• Draft archaeological reports, heritage impact studies, research papers, site records, and presentations for regulators and senior decision-makers.
• Identify and reduce risks linked to construction activity, preservation concerns, excavation difficulties, environmental conditions, and compliance issues.
• Guide, coach, and develop archaeologists, supervisors, researchers, and technical staff while promoting rigor, teamwork, ethical practice, and ongoing learning.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Cultural Heritage Management, or a closely related discipline is required.
• A master’s degree or PhD in Archaeology or Cultural Heritage Studies is a strong advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in archaeology, cultural resource management, heritage preservation, excavation work, or related research is needed.
• At least 2 years of prior experience leading archaeological teams, field projects, or heritage programs is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of archaeological techniques, excavation practices, heritage legislation, GIS systems, site recording, and research methods is essential.
• Hands-on experience with GIS platforms, remote sensing, survey tools, archaeological databases, Microsoft Office, and research software is expected.
• Exposure to UNESCO heritage requirements, environmental impact studies, conservation methods, and regional archaeology rules is beneficial.
• Strong leadership, analytical thinking, research, documentation, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, stakeholder coordination, and cross-functional collaboration, are important.
• Ability to manage complex archaeology projects while balancing scientific quality, compliance, preservation goals, and development needs is necessary.
• Comfort working independently in remote and field-based environments is required.
