About the Role
Join Verian Group’s Policy Development & Evaluation team, a leader in offering evidence-based solutions addressing social and governmental challenges. This position involves engaging in policy research and complex evaluation projects within a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and adherence to strict deadlines. The role contributes to the team’s mission to generate positive societal impact through applied social research and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in understanding client environments, policy matters, and decision contexts to facilitate tailored solutions.
- Participate actively in meetings, workshops, and client engagements by preparing materials, taking notes, and performing follow-ups.
- Coordinate project execution by managing schedules, documenting progress, organizing fieldwork, and securing timely delivery of outputs.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews synthesizing evidence from credible secondary sources to shape research questions and identify gaps.
- Support the design of research frameworks, evaluation methodologies, theories of change, and analytical plans under senior supervision.
- Contribute to both qualitative and quantitative research efforts utilizing mixed methods.
- Engage in impact evaluation tasks, including indicator development, data preparation, basic data analysis, and evidence review.
- Assist in planning and facilitating stakeholder engagements such as interviews, focus groups, and workshops, ensuring effective documentation and synthesis.
- Help produce clear, data-driven narratives for reports, presentations, and workshops translating findings into actionable recommendations.
- Support proposal development, capability building, case studies, and thought leadership materials to enhance Verian’s presence in policy research.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Public Policy, Political Science, or related disciplines.
- Experience with quantitative data analysis, specifically using R, Python, or SPSS applied to individual-level datasets.
- Familiarity with impact measurement frameworks (e.g., logic models, theories of change) and evaluation techniques (e.g., difference-in-differences, propensity score matching).
- Keen interest and solid understanding of policy issues and demonstrated experience in applied research addressing real-world challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with a desire for continuous improvement.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently and working rapidly under pressure.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in interdisciplinary settings, enjoys a positive team culture, and supports collective success.
- Fluency in English plus one mother tongue language among Chinese, Malay, or Tamil.
