About the Company
Backtrace is a venture capital fund based in Munich that concentrates on technology infrastructure investments, including AI, software infrastructure, cybersecurity, and developer tools.
Role Overview
The fund is hiring an AI Research & Tech Lead to partner with the investment team, assess new technologies, shape investment thinking, and help roll out AI capabilities across the firm.
Responsibilities
- Monitor developments in AI and agent systems to refine and expand market perspectives.
- Contribute to internal improvements by introducing and implementing AI-enabled workflows and tools.
- Work with portfolio companies on the deployment of AI and agent solutions.
- Evaluate the competitive landscape and emerging trends among AI vendors and providers.
- Lead and coordinate special projects that involve multiple functions across the business.
Requirements
- A solid technical background in fields such as computer science, mathematics, physics, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on exposure to AI and agent-based workflows, ideally gained through startup or research environments.
- Strong analytical thinking with proven problem-solving capability.
- Professional fluency in both German and English.
