About Bridhaven Nursing Home

Role Overview
The Activities Coordinator is a crucial team member responsible for enhancing residents' quality of life through the design and implementation of social, cultural, and recreational programs tailored to their needs. The role embodies our care philosophy where social well-being is core to resident care.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a broad spectrum of activities to engage residents both physically and mentally, supporting their well-being.
- Promote and respect each resident's privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights, and personal fulfillment.
- Facilitate and support the residents' committee, ensuring comprehensive representation and accessibility of information.
- Conduct ongoing social care needs assessments and maintain up-to-date records for all residents.
- Complete "This is Me" booklets with residents and families, organize memory boxes, and arrange personalized room nameplates with chosen pictures or symbols.
- Stay informed about current approaches and advancements in elder care.
- Build strong community relationships and coordinate the volunteer program in line with organizational policies.
- Assist in planning and organizing special home events like summer parties and coffee mornings alongside the Director of Nursing and Social Care Manager.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a degree in Gerontology or Social Care, or hold at least a QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification, or be pursuing such qualifications including modules focused on care of the older person.
- Experience supporting teams to enable residents’ well-being and promote normalized social interaction.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in elder care, particularly in dementia care.
- Familiarity with current HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) standards.
